Should you Quit?

According to Merriam Webster, quitting is a release from obligation, charge, or penalty. Society has taught us that it is looked down upon, that giving up on something is bad or shameful. But is it really? I understand that us as a human race, we would all like to succeed at everything that we place our tiny hands on, but that will not be the case all the time. People have been so influenced by others that it makes the whole community scared, and in turn affecting other communities as well. Religious organizations and many others have had their hand in swaying the general opinion of the people. They always promote staying with them well, what if you don't want to do it anymore? What if you(hold for dramatic affect) QUIT! No one can really stop you, changing your mind is actually, in fact, your choice! Maybe, you're not quitting maybe you you had an epiphany and don't want what you had or are doing. You will come to a lot of moments of awareness, and that will cause a change...

The Skinny

The Skinny  is a movie that has been one of my few favorites. This movie is about a group of 5 gay (one lesbian) getting back together after the drift life creates to party and create mistakes. The movie takes alot of getting use to if you're not into very racy films. Magnus (Jussie S omllett) is the host of these eventful nights; with his boyfriend which his friends think is a little shady. The movie only gives us a glimpse into the life's of the characters without giving us any strong  background information. Which I hate! But the characters are very real and believable. Alcohol, parties, drama, sad moments, and craziness is a definite in this film. With all that said should you go see it? Yes, the plot is solid enough to hold you for the time period and give you a quick glance into the fast, crazy, and sometimes questionable life of the gays. This movie is available for streaming on Netflix and Amazon.

Darren Shan

Darren Shan is a author in the United Kingdom; who writes many of the books I enjoy reading. Shan has a horror type writing style with a dash of magical mystery. Taking a dark, and sometimes a twisted vision of who adventures should happen (even though he, for now, is staying in young adult fiction). He undoubtedly has become one of my favorite author to go venture with, and has a passion for writing which can not be missed or mistaken. I have read his whole crude du freak series which is about a kid who visits a circus and and he be comes a vampire and must prove himself worthy of the title. End of (school) year

As we approach the end of the year we have to start thinking about summer, which is highly dreadful! Going into summer thinking this is going to be the best sunny days ever when really it may ne fun at first, but there's something I like to call the summer-hump. After all the main events are over all the out of country trips are over, and you begin  begging to go back to school towards the end. How do we solve that problem? You don't. School (even thought I don't want to say it) is a relevant part of life that gives us all the experiences that we need, and some that we don't want to remember! With all said, look forward to your summer, but also anticipate toward your next school year. Hey! Who knows this might be the actual year that you enjoy being in hell's kitchen with all the fire and brim stone!

Zite

Zite is a new app that allows you to choose exactly what you would like to see. Picking from categories such as pets, fashion, cars, football, technology, and gay,  but this app also breaks down the main categories into sub categories. For example you can have technology and then have a place for apple or android. With the interface and ease of use, this app is just beautiful. The app gives you a clean lay-out close to that of ios seven; with vibrant color which makes it easy to understand/manipulate the controls. Simple, in this case, is the best way to go!  What makes this app better, is absolutely nothing! Getting to the bear nessesity is just of a new app is just amazing, with so many other designers adding-on so many things, they're app loses shine and the appeal to the general population. This app skips all the extras (that comes off as bloat-ware), and puts what is needed in a wonderful app. This app is available, for free, at the Google Play store and iTunes store. ...

Comic-Con Dallas

Comics have been around for as long as humans have had imagination and paper. Superman, Batman, and many recognizable heros will be gathered at the festivity; running in underwater and tights way too tight! Expanding to the point that they had to move it to the Dallas Convention Center. Running all the way from Friday at 4 pm to Sunday, and the geeks and comic nerds won't stop until they get there full of Stan Lee and many other famous faces at the DCC (dallas comic-con). The prices on most of the memorabilia is astronomical; one can simply spend their life saves on all of the items. Location: 650 S. Griffin St. Dallas,TX Price: $25 and up

Tuesdays with Morrie

Tuesdays with Morrie is a touching memoir about a student/graduate, Mitch, and his college professor Morrie. Morrie, is diagnosed with ALS, a disease that breaks down the body slowly, and Mitch is not really concerned with anyone from his "past-life". He later learns that his beloved teacher contracts this disease, and (hasatenly) comes to his professors for a visit, that leads to him coming every Tuesday, and Morrie continues to teach even in death. About relationships, family, death, regret, and many other life questions. This book in-bodies everything that you could live your life by, while you grow from every beautifully written word. Morrie gives us an excellent example of how to deal with the face of death and still come out on top, even with people" wiping his ass". The importance of Morrie's massage can not be missed; he has shown many critical aspects of living/dieing. I know if anyone reads this they will take a great deal from it!

Theatre three

Theatre Three is a live theatre located in uptown Dallas, that I have had the pleasure of volunteering at for a couple of weeks. This theatre has a great slew of actors/actresses and you can't forget about the set-up people that bring something new and exciting to theatre that could be revolutionary to show biz. I recall one play I saw called Seminar, about a group of college graduates that take a class to improve their rusty skills, but their teacher (to them) is a complete nut. They soon find out that there is a method to his madness. Featuring  colorful language, emotional draws, and light dramatic holds seem to captivate the whole crowd. Squeezing all the jaw ranching passion onto this beautifully written script. Theatre Three is definitely a place to be seen and deeply experienced. Rio 2

Birds flying around with the main intention to make us and the children we go see it with, enjoy it! Rio 2 definitely captured what we liked about the first one, and also tightens the plot so we get a clear direction of where the movie is headed. Bringing elements of light fighting scenes, nice emotional balance between light and heavy moments, quick fast-pace plot unravel, and super fluffy dialogue to put you at bay. It's also not bad having an all star cast to bring the, at times, stiff characters to life. This is a movie that you and your children will want to see again and again, to sing along to the catchy lyrics and move your bodies to the crazy dance moves. Life lessons are also jammed into this film, to teach us  that preserving our exotic animal life is more important then ones own greedy gain! http://m.youtube.com/?q=Rio+2#/watch?v=IkZM1Zc0mBU

Fly Young Red

An openly gay rapper that goes by the name of Fly Young Red. Has caused quiet a buzz in social media and other ways of communication. With his single called Throw that boy pu**y . That has the gay community, more so, the black gay community praising him, but is it really something to be praised for? It is a step forward-then-back. Forward because we are getting noticed by main stream media and people are starting to give us recognition, but back because is this really the way we want people to see black gay guys or men? Just as in the straight community blacks are viewed as ratchet and not polite. Why? The way some of them represent themselves on various communication outlets. Fly Young Red is indeed taking leaps, but he has to remember who and what he is representing. Let's just talk about the music itself, the lines have been used over and over again by "straight rappers", the video seem unauthentic,  he plays into the persona of straight acting/looking gay guy, and also...

May The Fourth Be With You!

Image
The beloved Star Wars has been everywhere since May 25th 1977. Filling our lives with strange, weird, and highly anticipated films and collectible items that have overflowed over shelves. Sadly, I  never got on the Star Wars train, I felt as if it was too late and everyone already knew about the trilogy, but I always like to be invited to theses events. In West Sacramento Civic Center on West Capitol Ave., from 10 am to 8 pm their is a amazing gathering going on that cost $10. With free parking and kids under 12 get in free! All of us should go celebrate (even if we don't know much about it) because it's still a major part of our lives and part of our culture! http://starwars.com/

Misfits TV Show

Image
Misfits is a British show that aired in November 2009. It follows young adults who have a history of criminal activity, and are charged with community service. Trough a storm they get super powers, which they have know idea what to do with, so obviously they misuse and abuse their new found powers. Nathan (Robert Sheehan) is the main joker in the situations that this rag tag team finds themselves in. After killing their probation worker (several of them) the show begins to show us what happen in their past, and how it affects their future. Depicting some sexual scenes and a strong plot that definitely carries you till about the 5th season, that's when the switch out the people for a poorly put together cast! Overall, not a bad show oozing with strong dialogue and powerful acting skills! Available for watching on Hulu below: www.hulu.com/misfits‎

Minimum Wage In An Endless Cycle!

Image
People in many states are angry, and are trying to fight that minimum wage should still be raised up to 10.10 like Obama wanted it to be. If they haven't already, people are starting to ask questions, is the minimum wage (7.25) enough to survive on. However, the question I have is how are some states minimum wage higher then other state, which I already know the answer to, but it's really strange that they decided to set it up in that fashion. When the wage increases then the food and other items that we buy are going to have to increase as well for businesses to make a profit. Take the dollar menu at McDonald, if minimum wage grew then that dollar menu might increase to two dollars. Without getting too much into the whole Democrat and Republican drama. The Republicans say that the raise wouldn't be affordable for employers, and the Democrats just think that they are taking a side against poor workers. I personally like the idea of inflation of our wage over a period of tim...
