Philosophy Friday: Do People Have a Destiny?

Destiny, is a strange thing for many people. Are we suppose to be at the point in life in which we are in? The idea that destiny is real is implying that you are not ultimately in control of you life, and therefore where you are now is exactly where the deity or the universe would have you to be. I am not saying that you can't cause things to happen, it's the idea that higher power has already planed for you to take that action. Destiny, unlike fate implies that you don't have to fall inline with the set path for you. What trips me up is that your destiny is often told by someone who is a mortal they may be smarter then you, but they are still human. Which makes you question, are you suppose to be able to wiled that same ability? Is that ability even real? Where would you obtain the power from? This idea folds around fate has to be accepted and your destiny can be chosen.

Religion portrays that a certain power has the steering wheel in your life and that it is for the benefit of the person letting the divine guide. The fact is that certain events can alter ones in the future, but in the end it's up to person to decide if they would like to limit themselves on what they can and can not accomplish by the believe in destiny; which is not totally a horrible decision if you know what you're getting you're self into.
